about / contact
The Waterkant Gallery is a contemporary art and retail space with headquartes in the UK and gallery space in the De Waterkant in Cape Town, South Africa.
Exhibitions feature the works of new and emerging African talent, as well as more established artists.
The London headquarters focuses on UK and international art fairs as well as arranging reciprocal shows with other galleries around the world.
The Cape Town gallery acts as a base from which owner and director Matthew White develops African talent. The Cape Town gallery is situated in the heart of the historic De Waterkant district, the area formed part of the original Malay Quarter and was formerly known as District 5. De Waterkant became known for its bohemian setting and creative types who live and work nearby.
In May 2010, the Waterkant Gallery will make its international debut in New York and Paris at the Affordable Art Fairs. Later in the year the gallery will present in Amsterdam, London and Sydney.
